2020 Goals

Feels like the same type of thing happening again this year as last year. Reviews galore at work and a lot of self reflection on how things went. Time to put into words what I want to work on personally over 2020. Let’s start the decade off right.

  • Get nutrition back in check - This is really a weight goal that I have for this, but this has been going on for far too long. I’ve struggled to keep the weight off. I need to get back to a weight that I can still have my fluctuations, but not get too out of whack. And quite honestly, it comes down to nuturition. I eat way too damn much. I need to start making better choices and consuming less junk. I’m going to figure out some better habits in the new year with drinking better choices, and eliminate some of the unfortunate snacking that I do throughout the day.

2019 Goals Review

Its that time of the year again. Let’s see how I ended up the year on my goals. I think its important to both list out the successes, and failures, publicly. Its about accountability and I think a little transparency helps people understand some of the struggles that we all have and how we are trying to make ourselves better. So let’s get started.

  • Drop the next 10 lbs - FAIL! I’d like to say I knocked this one out of the park with my successes at the beginning of the year. But, I cannot say that is true. I was down a full 10 lbs at one point. But then work got the better of me with not doing enough working out and a LOT of eating. reCharge helped until it didn’t. The last week was a bit rough with a family reunion and then a trip out to California to see a buddy. We may have enjoyed ourselves a little too much out there with food and booze. The end of the year didn’t help spending a week in the hospital with my son fighting RSV. I stress ate and didn’t take care of myself like I should have. These are reasons, not excuses, to why I didn’t make this goal. If anything, right now I’m right back where I started from. I’m going to get there and try some different things for 2020 around this goal.

Deleting Tweets

This fall has been an interesting one in the news from Iowa. Its goofy season here so every day there is some political news coming from the state. I can’t wait for the caucuses so we can vote some of these bums out of the running.

But more importantly, it started in early fall at the Iowa / Iowa State game when a guy names Carson King held up a sign stating he needed some beer money.

2019 Goals - Mid Year Check-in

Well, we’re at the mid year, so let’s see where we have gotten with our goals for the year.

  • Drop the next 10 lbs - I joined a group of Rockin Dad (our Facebook Down Syndrome Group) to do a weight challenge. It was slow and steady work, but I’ve almost accomplished this one. As of June 14th the last day of the competition, I lost a grand total of 8.3 pounds. It doesn’t hurt that I was away from work and the delicious breakfasts for a month on reCharge.

The Lucky Few Tattoo

So, we finally did a thing a few weeks back! We’ve looked for an opportunity to do this for a year.

My tattoo has a little extra meaning to it as I wanted an arrow for each of the boys. They are all going to go their own direction and I’m able to tie in the lucky few tattoo into the design. Its healing up well and I’m really happy with the end result. More than anything, its a conversation starter on a great bunch of kiddos and a good story as well.
