The Only Constant is Change

Tomorrow will likely be a very rough day at Meta. The rumors will become realities and many people will no longer be working there. I may be one of them. This sucks for everyone involved. The people impacted, the people fortunate enough to make it through, and the ones that will leave even after all of this as they have simply had enough. And I can’t blame them.

Unfortunately, the only constant at this company is change. When I joined we were only going to have 2, may be 3 buildings at a site. The site I used to sit at now has 12 buildings and two tents. It holds 3x the capacity of what the entire fleet was when I started. And we’ve added 26 more sites some of which will be gigawatts in size.

The complexity has grown, the software has gotten better. AI has changed the trajectory of how quickly software can be made. AI has also made the speed at which we can screw up increase as well.

Its been a heck of a journey and I’m glad that I have been able to ride it this long. There will be change tomorrow, it will be hard and heartbreaking for everyone involved.

However it ends up for me, it has been a hell of a ride.
