COVID - Two Year Anniversary

Today is officially two years of working from home for the pandemic.

Did we ever think we’d get to this point? Two years later and still dealing with the pandemic? Many of us still working from home, some back in the office. But safe to say, its been a shit show of a ride. There is little light at the end of the tunnel and it appears that we might finally, maybe, possibly, getting to the end of this thing.

Let’s look at some of the positives that have come out of this.

Closer to family

We’ve all been able to spend a lot more time with family over this time. Growing relationships, spending time with the kids and doing more activities together. This has been an overall positive thing in my opinion.

Less work travel

Many people miss this part of their jobs. I personally did not miss it at all. If anything, I found it incredibly refreshing to be able to find new and creative ways to connect to co-workers without having to travel days at a time. That being said, my first work trip is next week. It feels weird to be getting back on a plane. I’m not sure I’m 100% ready, but I’m excited to see what is ahead for my team.

Projects

As we know, many people took on home renovations as they had time and some resources. We were not alone and I’ve enjoyed picking up some new skills, getting my boys involved and finding some new hobbies that get me away from the computer from time to time.

Would you do it again?

Hell no! We lost a lot of people. Our stress levels have never been higher. BUT… there were some parts that were not all that bad. I’m glad to be getting back into the office here in the next couple of weeks on a more regular basis. I look forward to connecting with co-workers that I haven’t seen in several years. Stay safe people.
