Great Service!

A few weeks ago, one of our Public Radio stations here in the state of Iowa was off the air. It was a good week or two that it was out. I had a strong feeling that they knew about the outage, but I figured I would send them a quick note just in case. Here’s the response I got:

_

Matt —

KUNI suffered a burnout in its transmission line last Saturday. We are currently off the air. We have a tower crew scheduled to arrive on Thursday – if all goes well it may only take a couple of days to repair.

Wii Fit at Best Buy

BestBuy-WiiFit

I realize that they are sold out, but why aren’t they taking back orders? It seems like the logical place to do it. I’m not going to drive my ass into your store every other week to see if you got one in. I’m just not going to do it. I don’t like your store that much.

But, I have a gift card because I’m a geek and that’s what geeks get. iTunes or Best Buy gift cards, its universal. I’m not saying I’m complaining, its just the store tends to grate on my nerves.

Kindle for iPhone

Read any tech blog out there and you will surely find a story about the new Kindle App for the iPhone. I’ve been wanting a Kindle for a while now but the price is a bit steep for the amount of reading that I do. My wife on the other hand goes through books like no other so I’m thinking that eventually we’ll pick on up for her. But in the mean time, the app is free so let’s give it a whirl and see what it is like for a non-Kindle owner.

Exchange 14 – Service First, Server 2nd

I’m thinking that Microsoft is finally starting to realize that the hosted model ‘works’. Seeing this article on cnet is starting to make me feel a lot better about the future of Exchange. As a hosted exchange provider, I can tell you that making Exchange a multi tenant environment is not the easiest thing to do. There are a lot of thing that Microsoft has had to hack in in order to get things to work properly. From the sounds of this article, they’re taking a different approach with 14. Thinking about the service providers first which then easily integrates with the Enterprise. This way, it doesn’t matter if you have 50 organizations on the platform or 1, it simply works.

Safari 4 – focus issues

Like a lot of Mac users out there, I took the plunge and tried out Safari 4 Beta.. Unfortunately, I’m rolling back to Safari 3. Its not that I really want to, its that I have found a very annoying issue. You see, my company uses IM like it is going out of style. It is one of the main ways that we communicate. Ever since installing Safari 4, I have come across an issue that drives me up the freaking wall. The issue is, when I am typing a message in the Mac Messenger client and hit send, the cursor no longer keeps focus for me to type another message. It goes somewhere else magically and never comes back until I click. So if I am in a discussion with someone, it is type, click, type click, type click. Very freaking annoying!!! The solution, according to this guy, is to remove Safari 4.
