I can’t recall what podcast that I was listening to, most likely one of the relay.fm ones and most likely Analog(ue). The discussion came around to, what day do you consider the start of the week. US calendars typically will have Sunday as the first day of the week. This seems silly as Sunday is the day of rest. Sunday is part of the weekEND. So why would you start the week with Sunday?
One idea to solve this debate was to do a very scientific poll of my oldest son. I simply asked him to name the days of the week. Guess where he started? Monday!
Monday starts the work week, Monday is where kids will start listing off the days. Monday is not part of the weekEND.
So I’ve made a change, it sounds silly, but I’ve moved all my digital calendars to start on Monday. Now I can see the full week and then see the true weekend both together, not split, and making the time seem more plentiful for the recharge between the work week.
Give it a try, I think you’ll like it.
