Rants

Good Bye 2008

At lunch the other day, a friend asked everyone at the table what was our favorite part of 2008. I think that I may have offended her a bit when I said that my favorite thing was that it was over. I wasn’t kidding either.

Work has been challenging but stressful. The company was bought, we battled floods, my team helped launch several major products, moved offices, and have continued to add on additional projects that have not been made public knowledge, but have taken up a bunch of time.

Stop calling me!

For the love of God, STOP CALLING ME!!!

I was once a Democrat. Many many moons ago. I haven’t been a registered anything for over 10 years and I’m pretty happy about that. But unfortunately, the Democratic Party in Iowa thinks I’m still a Democrat and needs to call me. And call often! I’m a Libertarian, get over it.

For the past 2 months, I have asked to be removed from the calling lists. Nothing has changed. At one point, I started telling them I was voting for the other guy because they couldn’t figure out how to remove me from their list, how could I expect them to run the country.

$24 for Voice Mail

I got a letter in the mail the other day from my internet, phone and cable TV provider Mediacom. The letter stated that due to the higher costs of providing the service and the decreased demand, Mediacom would no longer be offering voice mail as part of my included service. That’s right, as a “triple play” subscriber, someone who is now paying well over $100/month with the company, they will no longer offer voice mail as a part of their voice package.

Stupid Referrals

Warning, this is a rant. There is nothing good that will come out of this post.

Warning, I’m talking about medical stuff here…you may be disgusted by this post

I consider myself a pretty healthy individual. I exercise regularly, I eat right for the most part, I don’t smoke, and I drink occasionally and I’m only a few pounds over my target perfect health weight. One thing that I also do is get a yearly physical. I know, many of you are asking yourselves, why in the heck do you need to go yearly, sounds like you are in pretty good health. I am, and I feel that keeping up with maintenance on my body is an important thing that I do for myself. Not to mention, the insurance company picks up the tab for 1 full physical a year. So why wouldn’t I do it.
