Warranty Robo Calls!

Is anyone else receiving the warranty robo calls? I am. And I even complained about it to the FTC since my number is on the do-not-call list. I have received 2 calls and filled out the necessary paper work to file a complaint. The follow up on my filing, I got a letter this week stating that my calls did not violate the law yada yada yada. I’m guessing it is due to the fact that one of the questions was, did the caller leave a phone number or email address to opt out. I didn’t listen to the entire call so I couldn’t tell you for sure. I’m guessing they give the benefit of the doubt to the caller.

Well, seems that some members of congress are getting calls and there are hundreds of thousands people just like me that have complained.

Federal regulators are close to filing lawsuits against companies behind a national wave of spam “robo-calls” that warn people their auto warranties are about to expire and offer new service plans, two senators said Tuesday.

The Federal Trade Commission has started investigations into several companies involved in the deceptive calls, and the agency expects to bring cases against them within days, Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Mark Warner, D-Va., said at a news conference. The FTC also is providing a link on its Web site for consumers to file complaints.

The message “Your Car Warranty Has Expired,” offering a deal on an extended warranty, already has brought some 300,000 inquiries and 4,000 complaints to the Better Business Bureau from consumers who received the calls over the past two years. The calls come even if the consumer has signed up for the national “Do Not Call” registry, which is maintained by the FTC.

Finally we might be getting somewhere!

Stop calling me!

For the love of God, STOP CALLING ME!!!

I was once a Democrat. Many many moons ago. I haven’t been a registered anything for over 10 years and I’m pretty happy about that. But unfortunately, the Democratic Party in Iowa thinks I’m still a Democrat and needs to call me. And call often! I’m a Libertarian, get over it.

For the past 2 months, I have asked to be removed from the calling lists. Nothing has changed. At one point, I started telling them I was voting for the other guy because they couldn’t figure out how to remove me from their list, how could I expect them to run the country.

So far tonight, I have gotten calls from Robo-Obama and I believe it was Robo-Hillary. At least I think it was Hillary as the first part got cut off.

If I get a call from Robo-Pelosi, I’m pulling the phone off the wall and beating the first Democrat I see tomorrow.
