Tonight my wife and I took a journey to the local mall. While we were walking through the mall, we heard the following exchange between a guy who I assume was a manager of some store, and a guy working one of the center kiosks.

Guy: So you’re a model.

Clerk: Yeah

Guy: So what have you done.

Clerk: I haven’t started yet, I’m still working out the details with Steve.

Technically, I can state the same thing. I’m a model, I just haven’t started yet.

Optimism Grows as Marines Push Against Taliban

Look what happens when the Marines are allowed to do what the Marines are trained to do….kick ass, take names.

For two years British troops staked out a presence in this small district center in southern Afghanistan and fended off attacks from the Taliban. The constant firefights left it a ghost town, its bazaar broken and empty but for one baker, its houses and orchards reduced to rubble and weeds.

But it took the Marines, specifically the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, about 96 hours to clear out the Taliban in a fierce battle in the past month and push them back about 6 miles.

There is a still a long way to go in our battles in the Mid-east. But its these types of stories that don’t get the headlines that they deserve.

Unfortunately, these girls won’t get what they deserve. Hopefully they’ll realize that Paris Hilton isn’t the role model that they should follow.

Woman sentenced for having son dress up as Scout

This one really pisses me off!

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — A former Bethlehem woman will serve up to 23 months in prison for having her 7-year-old son dress as a Cub Scout to collect money for a nonexistent cause.

Sally Ann Gombocz, 51, told a Northampton County judge she wanted to apologize to anyone she hurt. She previously pleaded guilty to theft by deception and corruption of a minor.

Gombocz had her son dress as a scout in 2003 and tell people he was raising money for a camping trip. A prosecutor says the family collected $69.

Gombocz was sentenced Friday to six to 23 months in the county jail. She also was fined $2,000, ordered to perform community service, take parenting classes, have psychological counseling and submit to random urine screens. She also must pay restitution.

There is a lot of good that comes out of the scouting experience. This person just adds that hint of doubt that the scouts coming to their door to sell popcorn or Christmas wreaths are just going to take the money and run. Luckily, she got what was coming to her.

I really hope that $69 bucks was worth it.
