I’ve decided to finally cut the cord and combine my personal blog back into the main usrlocal.com blog. usrlocal.com lost its focus for a while and I wanted to get back to talking about technology, tips and tricks and doing some software reviews. It had unfortunately become a story reposting site with a few comments from me on rare occasions. You can get that information else where.

So here it is, in all its glory. Unfortunately, there will be a few RSS feeds that will be broken most likely. I’ll do what I can in order to send those on to the correct places in the next couple of days.

But in the mean time, please update your links.

Frenzic

If you are looking for a highly addictive fun game, I suggest you check out Frenzic. Frenzic is brought to you by The Iconfactory and ARTIS Software. You may recognize The Iconfactory as they are well known for bringing the iPhone world Twitterrific. And once again they have delivered a kick ass application!

This game is fast paced, frantic and I can’t stop playing it. Its pretty simple to play. Think of it as Tetris played with the games pieces from Trivial Pursuit. You get a pie piece of a certain color and must put it in one of the 6 open circles. If you match all the colors in the circle, you score higher points.

Here are a couple of screen shots that I took of the start of the game and then during the game play.

On the Frenzic website you can find a nice demo of the mobile app.

The game has all the makings of being a great game. Its easy to pick up and play and after playing it you soon realize that it will be difficult to truly master. So far in my 15 minutes of messing around with it, I can already tell it will help me waste many hours and a lot of my battery life. And for $1.99, it is well worth the price.

So give yourself a little gift before Christmas and download this great game.

Freak Snowblower accident!

No, not about me….or Blair.

Avalanche captain Joe Sakic will be sidelined at least three months, the team said this morning, after he suffered three broken fingers and tendon damage following an accident at his home involving a snowblower.

Sakic underwent surgery with a local hand specialist Tuesday night, the team said. Sakic suffered the injury Tuesday afternoon at his home. Sakic already was on injured reserve with a herniated disc in his back before the snowblower accident.

Sakic reached inside the “auger” of the snowblower to remove snow. The machine’s power was off when he tried to fix it, according to the team. According to the consumer products safety commission, snowblower injuries are common.

iTunes Failure

I don’t get to write about this too often. But tonight I ran into a situation where iTunes did not fail gracefully.

I recently joined facebook and decided to test out the free facebook app from the iTunes App Store. So I plugged in the iPhone, fired up iTunes, and did a search and found the app.

Unfortunately, when I went to “purchase” the free app, I was greeted with the following:

Yes, I do have some credit on my account and I can understand why they want to check for songs, movies and applications that cost money. However, its a FREE app. It really shouldn’t need to check anything and if it fails, it should simply allow me to download the application and continue on my way.

Unfortunately, not so much.

Facebook!

I’ve finally given into the dark side. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it, but I figured it would give me a chance to reconnect with old friends.

So after much reluctance, I have decided to take the Facebook leap. I’m already a LinkedIn member, but I figured that Facebook was a different audience and in these times, you can never have too many friends that may open a door for you if one should happen to close. I’m not worried about it, but better to be prepared just in case.

I’m going to avoid the damn apps like the plague so don’t ask me to join your mob, group, warlock society or whatever dork app you have found recently.

But feel free to friend me up.
